Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size, do you? Hmm? Hmm. And well you should not. For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you; here, between you, me, the tree, the rock, everywhere, yes.

Hip-hop's original overweight lover, Heavy D parlayed an eminently likable persona and strong MC skills into a lengthy career, in tandem with his backing group the Boyz. Weighing in at over 250 pounds, his girth could easily have become a one-note premise, but he varied his lyrical concerns to include positive message tracks and fun-loving party jams, and exuded a genuine warmth and respect for women. Moreover, he was an all-around talent -- an agile dancer, a naturalistic actor, and an astute businessman who eventually became a label executive. He maintained a solid, steady level of popularity all the way through the '90s, and his albums kept on going gold.
John Candy was one of Canada's most amazingly talented and funniest actors. And thanks for demanding respect, never letting moviemakers insult you as a plus size talent.
Alexandra Beller's work has been written up by major dance magazines here and abroad, but the coverage almost invariably focuses on her weight, not her dance. “A part of me knows that it's still a big deal. Because I'm the first woman of an atypical body type in a major modern dance company in this country. Of course I'm breaking down barriers, and I'm doing it with my own body. But sometimes it just kills me that these reviews have to talk about it. They always say something positive about my dancing, and they usually frame however they're talking about my body in a generous light, too, but sometimes I just feel like, Can you just talk about my dancing? That's really what I'm here for. I realize that I've taken on this other role because I have to, because it comes with the package. But I didn't really sign up to be the poster girl."
